IMS interoperability testing will take a step forward at NXTComm08 this week as the IMS Forum on Wednesday unveils the highlights from the IMS Plugfest 5 interoperability event, held earlier this month with industry vendors and service providers.

NXTComm08 attendees can hear the results first-hand in a series of events Wednesday. Two presentations focusing on the Plugfest 5 results will be held at the Forum Theater in the Las Vegas Convention Center, 10am-11am and 11am-noon. In addition, the IMS/NGN Forum Technical and Marketing working groups will meet on Wednesday from 2pm-4pm in room S208 to discussing ongoing IMS interoperability issues.

PlugFest 5, held in early June at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab, focused on interoperability of the “GM interface” -- a key link between end-users and service providers in IMS networks, said Michael Khalilian, chairman and president of the IMS and NGN Forums. Also tested were an array of IMS network activities, including policy decision function, load balancing/sharing, user authorization credentials, service profiles creation, multimedia messaging and charging/billing, Khalilian said.

Among the speakers at the NXTComm08 events will be representatives from IMS Forum members Acision, Aricent, HP, Intel, IPgallery, Ixia, Mu Dynamics, NextPoint Networks, RADVISION, Tekelec, and Wipro Technologies.
