After a gauntlet of 414 test cases, the Metro Ethernet Forum certified three Ceterus Networks products as compliant with MEF 9 and MEF 14: the UTX8212 Multi-Service Cross Connect and the UTS810 and UTS1530 Multi-Service delivery platforms.

The UTS810 is Ceterusí initial Ethernet delivery platform for the E-1 and T-1 markets, and the company said itís also the industryís first dedicated Ethernet transport platform to use the ITUís circuit-bonding standards for copper access circuits. And in a bid for service providers with wide area Ethernet deployments, Ceterus also is upgrading the UTX8212 with an OC-12 network interface for aggregating hundreds of end points.

Ceterus also announced a manufacturing deal with Sanmina-SCI. The contract is aimed at giving Ceterus the ability to ramp up production in anticipation of growth in markets such as Ethernet cell site backhaul. The company also sees opportunity in WiMAX, where broadband data services create backhaul requirements beyond what E-1s and T-1s can handle cost-effectively.
