Ethernet Card
Jun 20, 2007 12:00 AM

Telmar Network Technology (Booth 3243), will showcase its 8-port FastE Card for use in the Telmar 1603 SMX platform. The FastE Card offers the functionality needed to integrate Ethernet-capable devices using existing 1603 SMX topology. Telmar has completed the initial development stages for this product enhancement and is now
accepting first office application orders. Once in place, communication network providers can tariff Ethernet services to their customers for transport over the providers’ existing Sonet systems. Development is continuing on the 2-port GigE card, with beta testing expected to begin in the third quarter. These cards will support VLAN, GFP with VCAT and Jumbo Frame capabilities with a limited RMON capability. The FastE card and GigE card may reduce communications providers costs by evolving TDM-type traffic with a fully functional FastE or GigE card rather than using an adjunct box with traditional DS-3, OC-3 or OC-12 interfaces into the existing 1603 SM/SMX network.
