Advanced services platform
Jun 19, 2007 12:00 AM

Ciena (Booth 6415) introduces its new CN 4200 RS FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform, the latest expansion of its CN 4200 family of products and the flagship products of the company’s FlexSelect Architecture. Designed for deployment in high density metro offices and headends, the CN 4200 RS delivers all the benefits of the CN 4200 family in a platform with 16 line cards to drastically increase its service density while reducing the cost of common equipment. This includes universal line cards with individual user-programmable ports to deliver any protocol at any speed on any available port, future-ready technology such as ITU G.709 Optical Transport Network (OTN) for service transparency, dynamic wavelength routing featuring a hybrid ROADM solution, and remote service provisioning and management capabilities. With the ability to support thousands of services from a single platform, the CN 4200 RS offers a solution that addresses multiple market segments (telco, cable, government and enterprise) that require massive headend aggregation where multiple services are distributed. Key applications for the CN 4200 RS include video distribution, broadband network aggregation, managed business services and wireless backhaul. Each individual service is guaranteed full transparency across the entire network and the CN 4200 RS is managed by Ciena’s ON-Center Network and Service Management Suite for point-and-click network and services provisioning as well as granular service level management per network per customer.
